PHY 1001 - Applied Physics
General physics course accompanied by an optional laboratory. Contents: mechanics, electricity, and magnetism. Intended for students in general education and technical fields. Students majoring in a technical field should take PHY1001L concurrently with PHY1001.

Students majoring in the Sciences should take PHY 2048 or PHY 2053.

Students may sign up for this course without being placed by the Testing Center or meeting with the Associate Dean. This course is transferable in a degree seeking program.

The accompanying laboratory (PHY 1001L) is offered concurrently.

PHY 1001L - Applied Physics Laboratory
Laboratory for the purpose of demonstrating and verifying the theories of mechanics, electricity and magnetism. The concept of heat is introduced and experiments are performed to illustrate this concept.

This course is geared towards students majoring in a technical field.

Part one of a two term comprehensive course in physics involving the use of calculus in problem solving. Topics include mechanics, heat, wave motion and sound. See below for the complete sequence:
