BSC 1005 - General Biology
Course designed to give students an understanding of principles of Biology, while focusing on the nature and activities of living organisms.

Students may sign up for this course without being placed by the Testing Center or meeting with the Associate Dean.

General Biology is geared towards students seeking non-Science degrees. If you are a Science major, please see BSC 1010.

The accompanying lab (BSC 1005L) is offered concurrently but is not required.

BSC 1005L - General Biology Laboratory
Two hours of laboratory weekly which may be taken concurrently with BSC 1005. For students planning to transfer where laboratory is required for science credit. Dissection exercises included.

This course is offered concurrently with BSC 1005.

BSC 1010 - Introduction to Biology I
This course is the first of a two-semester sequence introducing science majors to biological principles including cell structure and function, cell reproduction, biochemistry and cell metabolism, classical and molecular genetics, and genetic engineering.

Students may sign up for this course without being placed by the Testing Center or meeting with the Associate Dean.

Introduction to Biology is geared towards students seeking a Science degree. If you are not a Science major, please see BSC 1005.

The accompanying lab (BSC 1010L) is offered concurrently.

ENY 1001 - Insect, Man, and Environment
A survey course in entomology for non-majors. The focus will be on both beneficial and detrimental impacts of insects and related arthropods and their role in the environment. Interactions with man, such as insects as disease vectors, agricultural pests, urban pests, indicators of environmental health, pollination and forensic crime-solving tools will be given emphasis. Both current and historical events and their impacts will be examined. The students will be given a non-anthropogenic view and expand their knowledge about the abundance and diversity of the largest group of animals on the Earth.
